Women in Top Jobs. Thoughts?

Women in top jobs should be normalized

What do you think about women in top jobs? Does it shock you? Does it not surprise you? Well, I believe women in top jobs should become way more normal and should happen more often. Women have fought and fought to get the rights they wanted to be equal and they are still not 100% completely equal. I believe women in top jobs add a diversity of ideas in bigger companies and CEO. Companies are more capable of having way more thoughts from different sides, men may have a different thought than a woman does and it can benefit better ideas. In a survey that was taken in 2014, it showed companies with an equal balance of men and women seem to do better and have a better success of a business. This also benefits the relationships they have with their clients or customers because they better reflect the diversity of society. European countries like France, Norway, Spain, and Germany governments have started to mandate progress on making companies hire more women as managers. Women seem to not be able to be as committed to their jobs in famous companies because they are seen as the caretakers when children come into the picture. This sometimes causes women to start their very own company so they end up having more of a flexible work schedule. Women are capable of having such a high responsibility of a job. Women in high placement jobs bring in more clients and have better success with the business, and I mean what kind of business wouldn’t want high success not just populating the company or having bigger ideas but also building relationships with clients and maybe even see a bigger picture with the business. Although how would most people feel about this? Would they support these ideas on bringing more women in managing job placements or would they think differently?

The Story of an Hour That Actually Doesn’t Take an Hour to read

Johara Mayorga December 2, 2020

Thematic Statement

In “The story of an Hour” Kate Chopin uses the loss of someone to express freedom which can cause someone to feel the free spirit and can guide their own life and be able to do anything and make their own choices when someone dies or disappears.

Summary Overview & Commentary

Kate Chopin presents the idea that freedom is in order to convey their message in order to show the perspective of women and how they feel most of the time. This “striving to beat it back.” (Chopin 10) introduces the thematic statement because freedom is something that people have to fight for to completely escape and get away from. The audience then gets a better understanding of women’s feelings and how sometimes they feel trapped and not have a say which then can have the readers have empathy for the conflict that occurs which creates the theme. “ There would be no powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose” (Chopin 14) That will then present how women in this time of society had no power and that men believed they had to force women to do things they did not want to do. The audience will then understand how much more rights and control women have gotten over the times, and maybe have a better way to feel how it would be like to be a woman in that society of the time. “When the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease—of joy that kills.” (Chopin 21) expresses how the main character passes away when they are finally starting to live, this then is another part of the conflict that the author shows that create the characteristics of the main character, and it develops the theme. The audience of this story gets affected by this because it can give them a sense of how once someone receives what they wanted, it all can just disappear once again which can make the readers compare the situation in the story to real-life situations.

2020 Election Turn out

November 2nd Johara Mayorga

Justice is what we need, the voters determine who wins.

Who I believe Will Win and Why

To start off and for the readers to understand my opinion, I believe Joe Biden will win this election. My reasoning is he isn’t racist towards people of color, or hispanics. He wants equal rights for everyone, changes for the environment and make affective changes for COVID-19. He has more of an effective plan for his 4 years than Trump has made within his last 4 years.

Racial Changes That Would Be Made

“I never had to tell my daughter, if she’s pulled over, make sure she puts both hands on top of the wheel and don’t reach for the glove box, because someone may shoot you,

But a Black parent, no matter how wealthy or how poor they are, has to teach their child. When you are walking down the street, don’t have a hoodie on when you go across the street. Making sure that you in fact, if you get pulled over, just ‘Yes sir,’ ‘no sir,’ hands on top of the wheel.” – Joe Biden

According to this quote this has shown how much racist activity has happened within 2020. Trump has not done anything all to fix nor even bring down racism in the slightest. Back in 2016 Trumps initial plan was to build a wall and send back all Mexicans back to Mexico who came here illegally. Now, coming in the country illegally is a bad thing, but ripping them from their families when they haven’t done anything against the law. In 2016 and early 2017, Trumps behavior has made racism be even more than a problem than it has been in a while. People who aren’t white have been harassed and have not been liked because they are a different color or speak a different language. He does not show this country how to love people for who they are not how they appear. His opinions on colored people and Hispanics have caused his supporters to be so rude to them when they have done nothing. Even Bernie fought for black peoples rights back in the year 1964 when they protested for the world to be equal. Bernie himself who wanted to be President one day was more equal than Trump has been in his past 4 years in office. Joe Biden understands the pain these families feel. Separating families, targeting people of color, supporting homophobia are just words for judge mental.
Number 11 Shows that deportations and child separation is a big problem that has to be majorly fixed, and shows Trump hasn’t fixed it because he is causing it to be a big issue.

Joe Biden Desperately Wanting to Fix World Pandemic

“Good afternoon. My fellow Americans, last night, we saw the President of the United States, lie to the American people and repeatedly lie about the state of this pandemic. We saw him refuse to take responsibility for the crisis that should have been met with real presidential leadership. Instead it has cost hundreds of thousands of Americans lives and pushed millions into poverty. We saw him diminish the pain felt by so many Americans. President Trump said, “We’re rounding the corner. It’s going away. We’re learning to live with it.” There are quotes, but as I told them last night, We’re not learning to live with it, we’re learning to die with it.” This is a dark winter ahead. Already more than 220,000 people in the United States of America have lost their lives to this virus. 220,000 empty chairs at dinner tables all across this country. “

As Joe Biden says, Trump refuses to take responsibility of this World Pandemic. This has made the United States be the country with the MOST cases of COVID-19. In the 2014-2016 Ebola Outbreak, Obama was the president at that specific time. We only had 11 CONFIRMED cases and two deaths in the United States before Obama deployed help to West Africa to prevent it from getting even more serious in the United States and other countries. It being one of the deadliest diseases, now 8 MONTHS of a COVID-19 outbreak and still not much has been done by our own president. Not even just that, Trump’s focus was to ban a mobile app then to help the disease going around. Joe Biden states he would want rapid COVID testing to fight this disease as much as possible. Trump has never been seen with a mask before and then was confirmed with the Corona virus days after the debate. Joe Biden is a better representation as a president than Trump. Obviously something must be wrong if the own President can’t admit to his important responsibilities.

Biden’s Fixation on Foreign Interference

States his plan with COVID-19

“If elected president, I will treat foreign interference in our election as an adversarial act that significantly affects the relationship between the United States and the interfering nation’s government.”

Biden wants to prevent foreign interference as much as possible, we have had so much fights and violence with foreign countries with Trump in office. We had interference with Russia, North Korea, Iran, China and even more. I can go on and on with the list, he has interfered with the country which made them hate us and not welcoming to us. Biden wants to fully stop that to prevent more wars. This is a reasonable plan to fix one of the things Trump won’t take responsibility on.

The Most Dangerous Game

What I read from this short story

This story had some conflicting moments and never expected it to be about what it was. Rainsford and a few other people were on a yacht, they had ate dinner and they went off to bed besides Rainsford. He had heard some noises as he was falling asleep which conducted him to look out in the dark sky. He had reach for a striking rope and had reached too far making him fall off the yacht. He washed up to an island with cliffs, and a jungle. He found a man and told him he was hungry and that he fell off a yacht. Im guessing the man he found knew who he was from reading about his hunting books. His name was General Zaroff. Rainsford and General Zaroff got to talking about the shots Rainsford had heard, leaving General Zaroff to reveal that he hunts more than just an ordinary animals, that he hunts humans. Of course Rainsford wanted to leave but General Zaroff wanted a challenge to see who could win at hunting..

My Thoughts I have Gathered

A story itself may not seem what it could have been, the conflicts of stories can highly impact on how the story flows and the events that occur. When I first read the title I assumed they had to do some oddly fiction challenge like in Hunger Games but I was wrong. The conflict from the beginning of the story followed up to more conflict deeper into the story, when he fell off the yacht just led him to basically a murderer, then having to do a challenge of hunting.

Unraveling the Theme of Scarlet Ibis.

From when i read The Scarlet Ibis, one of the universal themes I discovered were bonds. What I mean by bonds is that, this family we’re really close and had strong relationships that grew within the story. The older brother started to have this accomplishment which was his brother Doodle. He wanted to teach Doodle how to walk and accomplish normal things since Doodle’s birth caused him not being able to do things that normal kids can do. From the start the older brother wanted to get rid of him but then he realized Doodle was all there, so for days and days he tried to get Doodle to stand up and hold himself and maybe even take a few steps. He tried for days and days even if didn’t work. After days and days trying to get Doodle to be able to walk he hid this secret from his parents and aunt, then one day surprised them with Doodle walking to his chair. This all occurs throughout the 2nd page of the story through the rest of it when he finally tries to get Doodle to achieve on things. He wanted Doodle to walk, be able to go to school. His parents and aunt were proud that he taught his brother how to walk and it brought the family much closer.

Another theme would be encouraging because, when the narrator which is the older son tried to teach Doodle how to walk and be a normal little boy, Doodle was already putting himself down saying he know he can’t do it and that it won’t work. The narrator didn’t give up and gave Doodle confidence and helped him even if it didn’t work the first time. Doodle tried his best to make the older brother proud, and they finally accomplished their first goal which was teaching Doodle how to walk. After that the narrator didn’t give up there and wanted to teach him more things so he could be able to start school. He encouraged Doodle to let him try and help him and to not automatically think he can’t do it, which also encouraged himself to help Doodle even more.

I have 3 quality questions that you can think about.

  1. How do you think a story like this could relate in real life?
  2. Would you be that helpful if someone you knew that close couldn’t do those easy things?
  3. What another piece of evidence that could go under those universal themes?
